The weather these days be rain some minutes, a glaring sun and sapping humidity. And when the mugginess wants you to shed, opt for breezy cuts and cool fabrics. Style up in ankle high everything and definitely not those floor grazers that could leave both you and the dress or trousers limpid and uncomfortably damp or squishy.
And you may ask, how indeed can the sari or mekhela climb up the talus? Why not!? The style twist comes when you team them with water-proof, airy sneakers. Comfort aplenty and you can jog, walk or just be. Get innovative with the sari and the chador. Wrap it loose around a short or long top.
When it comes to cool fabrics, go for cotton, linen, kota-doria, chiffon, chambray, light georgette, and some summer blends. Go without sleeves or those voluminous short or long ones that allow for air to circulate easily. Sleeves that cover the whole hand in light fabrics is also a good option as they protect the skin from the direct rays when the heat shrivels.
And yeah, go for pastel hues. Black is an all-time favourite for formal occasions, but best to skip it during the day.
Go light also on accessories. Too much will make you feel hotter. Statement pieces will help you stand out and yet accessorise just right.
When it comes to footwear, it’s a yes to sneakers and some height, but a strict no-no to those embellished jutis, dainty slip-ons or pencils. Open toes, peeptoes, sandals in block heels, are just what could take you with panache from day to an evening out with friends.
Like always, I look forward to hearing from you.
